Bungonia derives from an Aboriginal word meaning 'sandy creek'

Bungonia was originally called Inverary.  A post office opened at Inverary in 1832 and was renamed Bungonia in 1836.  When the Great Southern Road (now the Hume Highway) bypassed the town, it ceased to grow beyond a small village.

In the 2006 census, Bungonia had a population of 258 people.

THE BUNGONIA HTS UHF RADIO REPEATER IS ON-LINE AFTER HAVING BEEN SERVICED.
The Bungonia Hts Private UHF Radio repeater has now been moved to its new home as of 2 April 2011
with an elevation of over 750 mts (ASL) with an authorised transmit power of 50 watts which I have now reduced to 30 watts.
We have successfully tested the radio from Bungonia to Goulburn, Windellama, Lake Bathurst, Tarago, Lake George, Bungendore, Nerriga & east towards Nowra for several kms, Robertson, Federal Hwy towards Collector.
(of course there are many 'black spots' because of terrain) but communications were successful over that distance using a small 5 watt portable radio.
Good clear signals were made throughout Bungonia village & out to Inverary Park. Also along the length of Jerrara Road, O'Allen Ford Rd, Windellama Rd.

Transmit at 477.800
Receive at 472.600

Are you ready for the summer heat?
Do you have sufficient communications with your neighbours during a fire or medical emergency?

If you don't have sufficient communications then contact Cal about your two way radio needs and get onto the Bungonia Hts Private UHF frequency.

So if you would like to purchase a 5 watt portable radio or 50 watts vehicle mounted radio to transmit and receive on the Bungonia Hts private UHF radio frequency then contact Cal on 48447273 and get in early because later this year the old 40 channel UHF radio is being phased out for the upcoming 78 UHF CB Channels.

  • A good solid UHF Radio is a "MUST HAVE" when you need simple or Urgent communications with your neighbours or some of the Emergency Services in this area.

The Tree of Life is a 2011 American drama film written and directed by Terrence Malick and starring Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, and Jessica Chastain. Malick's film chronicles the origins and meaning of life by way of a middle-aged man's childhood memories of his family living in 1950s Texas, interspersed with imagery of the origins of the universe and the inception of life on Earth. After several years in development and missing 2009 and 2010 release dates, the film premiered in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or. The film received widespread critical acclaim, but also polarizing responses to Malick's use of technical and artistic imagery, directorial style, and fragmented non-linear narrative. In January 2012, the film received three Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography.
